Description
The Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) was the national governing body of amateur ice hockey play in Canada from 1914 until 1994 when it merged with the Canadian Hockey Association or Hockey Canada. The association was formed in 1914 at a meeting at the Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa. The association was formed with the goal of facilitating the Allan Cup, but the group eventually took over the role of providing teams to play in international tournaments and the Olympic Games. The CAHA also became Memorial Cup trustees in 1919, a role that lasted until the trophy became entrusted to the Canadian Hockey League in 1985.
These fonds consist of administrative files from the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association registry which documents all aspects of the association's activities between 1926 and 1971, including meeting minutes, by-laws and hockey rules.
There is a short description of items microfilmed in the collection at the start of the microfilm reels.
