Description

Louis Rosenberg (1893 - 1987), not to be confused with the United States federal judge, was, in 1940, the executive director of the Western Division of the Canadian Jewish Congress in Winnipeg. In 1945, he was appointed national research director of the Bureau of Social and Economic Research of the Congress in Montreal, a position from which he retired in June 1968. Born in Poland, upon his arrival in Canada in 1914, he taught at the Tiferes Israel School in Lipton, Saskatchewan, was field inspector for the Western farm colonies of the Jewish Colonization Association. Rosenberg published a series of statistical and demographic studies of the Jewish community in Canada.

(ca. 1910-1965).
Louis Rosenberg (1893-1937), qu’il ne faut pas confondre avec le juge fédéral américain du même nom, était, en 1940, le directeur général de la division Ouest du Congrès juif canadien, à Winnipeg. En 1945, il a été nommé directeur de la recherche nationale au Bureau of Social and Economic Research relevant du Congrès à Montréal, une fonction qu’il a conservé jusqu’à sa retraite en juin 1968. Né en Pologne, il est arrivé au Canada en 1914 et a aussitôt commencé à enseigner au Tiferes Israel School de Lipton, Saskatchewan, en plus de travailler pour la Jewish Colonization Association comme inspecteur sur le terrain pour les colonies agricoles de l’Ouest. Rosenberg a publié une série d’études statistiques et démographiques sur la communauté juive au Canada.
