Description
John Robert Clarke Macredie (1879 - 1932) was an engineer with the Canadian Pacific Railway involved mainly in the construction of a railway bridges in the prairies although he also did some work in B.C. and Ontario. He supervised construction of the railway bridge at Outlook, Saskatchewan, and was Resident Engineer for the Construction of the Connaught tunnel, Roger's Pass, B.C., as well as being involved in numerous other projects. He held the post of District Engineer for Saskatchewan from 1917 until his death.
These fonds consist of progress photographs of various views of the Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian Northern Railway bridges in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta between 1903 to 1919. There are also working diaries, engineering notes and photographs of his construction projects from 1904 to 1918.
John Robert Clarke Macredie (1879-1932) était un ingénieur à l’emploi des chemins de fer du Canadien Pacifique. Il s’est surtout impliqué dans la construction des ponts ferroviaires dans les Prairies, bien qu’il ait aussi quelque peu travaillé en Colombie-Britannique et en Ontario. Il a notamment supervisé la construction du pont ferroviaire d’Outlook, Saskatchewan, et a été l’ingénieur résidant pour la construction du tunnel Connaught, dans le col Rogers, Colombie-Britannique. Il a aussi été employé dans le cadre de plusieurs autres projets. Il a assumé les fonctions d’ingénieur de district, en Saskatchewan, de 1917 jusqu’à sa mort.
Ce fonds contient des photographies prises sous divers angles et illustrant la progression des travaux de construction de ponts ferroviaires appartenant aux chemins de fer du Canadien Pacifique et du Canadien du Nord, en Ontario, en Saskatchewan et en Alberta entre 1903 et 1919. On y trouve également des calendriers de travail, des notes d’ingénierie et des photographies de ses projets de construction, le tout couvrant les années 1904 à 1918
