Description
Andry Zhuk (1880 - 1968) was a politician and diplomat who was born in the Ukraine. He was a member of the Revolutionary Ukrainian Party (RUP) and eventually a co-founder and Secretary General of the Ukrainian Social Democratic Workers Party (USDRP). In 1907, he immigrated to Galicia, where he continued to work for the liberation of the Ukraine. At the start of the First World War, Zhuk and other emigrants from Tsarist Russia founded the Union for the Liberation of Ukraine (Soiuz Vyzvolenia Ukrainy) at Vienna, with the aim to liberate Ukraine in cooperation with the Central Powers. In 1918, the Soiuz Vyzvolenia Ukrainy (SVU) was liquidated and Zhuk became councillor of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, first as a member of the Ukrainian Legation at Vienna and eventually as head of the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He then worked as an editor and journalist. From 1930, he worked in Lviv in the Ukrainian cooperative movement. In 1939, he returned to Vienna where he lived in retirement until his death. During his years of retirement, he corresponded with many prominent Ukrainians and wrote articles and publications on various subjects of political and historical interest.
This collection consists of the 1923 publication Mirovoi Fashizm, Sbornik Statei.
