- Description
- Sub-series consists of war diaries collected by the staff of the Canadian War Records Office (CWRO). Each unit and formation of the CEF in France was required to compile a diary which was forwarded at the end of each month to the Canadian War Records Office where they were checked and the most interesting entries recorded in the office files. Since, in most cases, the diaries were not begun until the units arrived in France, little information for the earlier period was available at the CWRO. As a result, questionnaires were sent to original officers of each unit and the completed forms will be found in the Historical Section (HS) unit files.
