Description

The 1967 International and Universal Exposition or Expo 67 was the general exhibition of the World's Fair held in Montreal from April to October 1967. It is considered to be the most successful World's Fair of the 20th century, with the most attendees to that date and 62 nations participating. It also set the single-day attendance record for a world's fair, with 569,500 visitors on its third day. Expo 67 was Canada's main celebration during its centennial year. The exhibition corporation invested almost $40 million in theme buildings strategically located around the site of the expo.
This collection consists of records relating to a research project undertaken by the McGill University in 1967 for the National Film Board to study and assess the audio-visual and multimedia aspects in selected national and theme buildings at Expo '67. These records consist of a draft report for each building as well as the working papers of the project.
There is a table of contents for the report at the start of microfilm reel C-4509.
L'Exposition internationale et universelle de 1967 ou Expo 67 est une grande foire mondiale tenue à Montréal entre avril et octobre 1967. Avec 62 pays participants et un nombre sans précédent de visiteurs, Expo 67 est reconnue comme la plus réussie des expositions universelles du XXe siècle. Au troisième jour de son ouverture, elle a accueilli 569,500 visiteurs, ce qui constitue, pour une foire, un nombre record de visiteurs en une seule journée. Expo 67 fut l'événement marquant des célébrations du centenaire du Canada. La Compagnie canadienne de l'Exposition universelle a investi près de 40 M$ pour des pavillons thématiques stratégiquement situés sur le site de l'exposition.
Cette collection renferme des documents qui se rapportent à un projet de recherche entrepris en 1967 par l'Université McGill pour l'Office national du film. Cette recherche avait pour but d'étudier et d'évaluer les aspects audiovisuels et multimédia dans certains pavillons nationaux et thématiques d'Expo 67. La collection comprend un projet de rapport pour chaque pavillon sélectionné, ainsi que des documents de travail liés au projet.
