Description

The fonds consists of issues of Il Giornale di Toronto, with accompanying correspondence, press releases, published articles and notes used to prepare articles from 1972 and 1973.
Il Giornale di Toronto began as a weekly publication in 1967 and ran until 1973. The original publisher of the weekly newspaper was A. Malvisi.
Ethnic publications in Toronto catered to waves of immigrants to help integrate them into Canadian society, as well as keeping them informed of news from their homelands. After the Second World War, Toronto saw an influx of Italian immigrants, and thus publications such as Il Giornale, as well as Corriere Candese, came into exsistence.
Ce fonds contient des numéros du journal « Il Giornale di Toronto », avec la correspondance connexe, les communiqués de presse, les articles publiés et les notes ayant servi à l’élaboration des articles en 1972 et 1973.
Feuille hebdomadaire lancée en 1967 par A. Malvisi, son premier rédacteur en chef, la publication de l’ « Il Giornale di Toronto » s’est poursuivie jusqu’en 1973.
Des publications ethniques répondaient aux besoins des vagues d’immigrants installés à Toronto afin de faciliter leur intégration dans la société canadienne et de les tenir informés des nouvelles de leur pays d’origine. Après la seconde guerre mondiale, Toronto a reçu un afflux d’immigrants italiens. C’est ainsi que des publications comme « Il Giornale » et « Corriere Candese » ont vu le jour.
