Description
Sir Robert Borden (1854 -1937) was Canada's eighth Prime Minister and served between 1911 and 1920 in that capacity, leading the country during the First World War.
This fond contains diaries, correspondence, printed speeches, pamphlets, memos, invitations, welcome addresses and other ephemera. The material covers the following three periods of Borden's life: from when he was Leader of the Opposition between 1901 to 1911, from when he was Prime Minister (which is the period this collection mostly covers), and the time after his retirement from public office in 1920 until his death.
An in-depth index of the material can be found on 11 microfilm reels, starting with microfilm number C-4819 and going to C-4829.

From record: The Borden fonds chiefly documents the record of his premiership, 1911-1920, since approximately 85 percent of the papers fall within that period. Nearly all the correspondence covering the period in which Borden was Leader of the Opposition, 1901-1911, is included in the Memoir Notes. The series of memoranda and clippings also spans this period. Also included is the Borden's correspondence after his retirement from office, 1920-1937
