The Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography or N.N. Miklukho-Maclay Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology (IEA) is a Russian institute of research, specializing in ethnographic studies of cultural and physical anthropology. The institute is a constituent institute of the History branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Institute is named after the renowned 19th century ethnologist and anthropologist Nicholas Miklukho-Maclay.
This collection consists of photocopies of archival documents in the Peter the Great Museum of Ethnography, N.N. Miklukho-Maclay Institute, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, in what used to be Leningrad and is now St. Petersburg, Russia. The material is largely in the Russian language and includes six items: 1) A brief outline of the history and holdings of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Leningrad Sector, 11 pages outlining the holdings of artifacts and other material. 2) Description of Halifax harbour in Nova Scotia including navigational directions, the naval administration, the town proper; text partly in English. 3) Report by E.I. Blomquist, with Background Notes on the Institute's holdings relating to the Native Peoples of Canada (and North America) and the Iroquois. 4) Report on the Natives of Labrador. 5) Report on the Doukhobors of Canada. 6) Report on the History of Native Politics in the United States.
There appears to be no finding aid on the microfilm for this collection.
L'Institut d'anthropologie et d'ethnographie ou N.N. Miklukho-Maclay Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology (IEA) est un institut russe de recherche spécialisé dans les études ethnographiques relatives à l'anthropologie culturelle et physique et qui fait partie de l'Institut d'histoire de l'Académie des sciences de Russie. L'Institut fut baptisé en l'honneur du célèbre ethnologue et anthropologue du XIXe siècle, Nicholas Miklukho-Maclay.
Cette collection est composée de photocopies de documents d'archives provenant du Musée d'ethnographie Pierre le Grand, l'Institut N.N. Miklukho-Maclay de l'Académie des Sciences de l'URSS, situé autrefois dans la ville de Leningrad et aujourd'hui connue sous le nom de Saint-Pétersbourg, Russie. La majeure partie de ces documents est rédigée en russe et comportent sept articles : 1) un bref sommaire de l'histoire et des collections de l'Institut d'ethnologie de l'Académie des sciences de l'URSS, secteur de Leningrad, 11 pages décrivant brièvement les collections d'artéfacts et autres; 2) une description du port d'Halifax en Nouvelle-Écosse avec des informations pour la navigation, sur l'administration navale, et sur la ville comme telle; certains textes sont en anglais; 3) un rapport de E.I. Blomquist, avec des notes d'informations sur les collections de l'Institut qui se rapportent aux peuples autochtones du Canada (et de l'Amérique du Nord) et les Iroquois; 4) un rapport sur les autochtones du Labrador; 5) un rapport sur les Doukhobors du Canada; 6) un rapport sur l'histoire de la politique concernant les autochtones aux États-Unis.
Il ne semble pas y avoir d'instrument de recherche pour cette collection sur la bobine de microfilm.
