Description
Vladimir Kaye (born Vladimir Kysilewsky) was a public servant, author and university professor, who lived between 1896 and 1976. In 1927, he worked as a newspaper correspondent and in 1928 was editor of "Western news", a Ukrainian weekly published in Edmonton. In 1930 and 1931, he was assistant editor of the weekly "Ukraina" in Chicago. During the Second World War, Kaye became a public servant in the Nationalities Branch of Department of National War Services. He also taught at the University of Ottawa from 1948 to 1960, at the same time he was a public servant.
This collection includes material on Dr. Kaye's personal and family life, as well as his career in the Canadian public service, with the Ukrainian Bureau in London, England, as a journalist, and with the University of Ottawa. The fonds also contains material on ethnocultural-groups and individuals, Ukrainian pioneer settlers, and Ukrainian involvement in the First and Second World Wars.
