Description
The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), Canada's largest and most influential labour federation, was formed in 1956 by the merger of the Trades and Labor Congress of Canada (TLC) and the Canadian Congress of Labour (CCL). As of 2013, it represented the interests of over 3 million affiliated workers. The CLC is the umbrella organization for dozens of affiliated Canadian and international unions, as well as provincial federations of labour and regional labour councils.
Claude Jodoin served as the first president of the CLC from 1956 to 1966. In 1967 he was appointed to the Order of Canada. This collection consists of Claude Jodoin's files during his presidency. Included are correspondence, speeches and addresses he delivered as CLC president, and his pocket diaries.
