Description

Stephen P. H. Butler Leacock (1869 - 1944) was a Canadian teacher, political scientist, writer, and humourist. Leacock was the English-speaking world's best-known humorist from 1915 to 1925, according to the Canadian Encyclopedia. His two masterpieces are Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town (1912) and Arcadian Adventures with the Idle Rich (1914). The Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour was named in his honour.
This collection consists of letters and replies, and letters to the editor of the Manitoba Free Press.
Stephen P. H. Butler Leacock (1869-1944) était un enseignant, un politicologue, un écrivain et un humoriste canadien. Selon l’Encyclopédie canadienne, Leacock était considéré comme l’humoriste anglophone le plus connu du monde entre 1915 et 1925. Ses deux chefs-d’œuvre sont Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town (1912), publié en français sous le titre de Bienvenue à Mariposa, et Arcadian Adventure with the Idle Rich (1914). Le Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour fut créé en son honneur.
