This collection consists of Artillery and Gunnery certificates granted by Schools of Military Instruction from 1869 to 1905. The certificates usually include information such as the person's name, the school attended, date granted and the marks given.

From record (195105) : Sub-series consists of correspondence records relating to Schools of Military Instruction. The sub-series includes: letterbooks of the Adjutant General's Office 1864-1865, (Vols. 1-7), chiefly recommendations and lists of candidates for the schools at Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto, Kingston (Vols. 1-5); a register of correspondence received, November 1864 to January 1868 (Vol. 6), a second register (Vol. 7) is for correspondence received, January 1868 to June 1874 but the correspondence is missing; numbered applications for admission, 1865, to the Montreal school, addressed to Major J. MacPherson, Brigade Major at Montreal (Vol. 8); unnumbered applications and returns of candidates (Vol. 8); correspondence relating to military schools in general, 1865-1868 (Vol. 9) to the schools at London and Hamilton and to the camp for graduates at Laprairie, 1865 (Vol. 10); a letterbook of the Adjutant General's Office containing correspondence relating to the Schools of Military Instruction, 1864-1868 (Vol. 11); letterbooks of the Superintendent of Military Schools, 1868-1874 (Vols. 12-15). A shelf list is available to the correspondence in volumes 13-15 (reels T-473 and T-474).
