Description

This sub-series consists of aircraft accident investigation files arranged according to the second RCAF files classification system. In this system all information pertaining to an aircraft accident was filed under the file number 1700 followed by the aircraft registration number, e.g. 1700-1360 for the Hawker Hurricane a/c 1360 which crashed at 27 August 1942. The files in the sub-series are for aircraft with either RCAF or RAF registration numbers, but only cover investigations conducted in Canada.
The finding aid's file level descriptions can be accessed through the "consists of" fields in the MIKAN record. A paper copy is also available in the Reference room. The finding aid is a verified file list indicating microfilm reel number, file number, file title and dates. Many of the dates in the finding aid are uncertain.
