François-Charles de Bourlamaque (1716 - 1764) was a French army officer and governor of Guadeloupe from 1763. He was sent to Canada in 1756 as third-in-command of the regular troops and served with distinction throughout the subsequent campaign in Canada. In the Battle of Carillon in 1758 he commanded the French forces and in 1759 led the French at Ticonderoga. He was made a Brigadier-General in the same year, becoming a Major-General in 1762.
This collection includes letters, instructions, reports, briefs and other documents written by Bourlamaque, among other things. It also consists of 88 letters to Bourlamaque by François-Pierre Rigaud de Vaudreuil, governor of Montreal, among others. - URL
